Foreclosure Auction: Hasentree goes on the block

I had the opportunity to pop over to the Wake County Courthouse and observe the Hasentree Foreclosure Auction today.
Since the first scheduled auction on December 19, 2008, I have been loitering around the edges of the proceedings. Mostly out of curiosity.
The auction has been postponed and rescheduled three times to get to today's sale.

And there was a sale.
All the usual suspects were present.
NBC-17 had a camera there.
Jack Hagel from the News and Observer was there, of course. (Busy guy. Turns out a lot of stuff.)
Suntrust Bank bought the properties, golf course and all. No surprise there.
$32,240,000
That banker, Mr. Rogers, had to be carrying 5% of that in certified funds or cash. I'm guessing it wasn't cash.

And the 10 day upset bid starts right away.
If you want to upset the sale and bid on Hasentree, figure on bidding at least $38-39,000,000, and have 5% of your bid in certified funds and cash.

  1. I'm sure Suntrust is a happy camper right about now. This has just been a mess for everyone involved. Hopefully things can finally move forward.
